SIE Digital is a service that provides attention, support, prevention and awareness with regard to digital gender-based violence.
We offer psychological, legal and technological advice to women who are affected and those around them, as well as to professionals and services throughout Catalonia.
According to Law 17/2020 of 22 December, which modifies Law 5/2008 on the Right of Women to Eradicate Gender-Based Violence, digital gender-based violence comprises any act of gender-based violence committed, promoted or shared using technologies such as social media, messaging services and other digital spaces.
SIE Digital responds and provides support to those affected by various forms of digital gender-based violence, particularly the following:
Digital sexual violence, sexual extortion ("sextortion"), non-consensual sharing of intimate images, creation of fake images using artificial intelligence, online grooming for sexual exploitation, online exhibitionism or sexual assault.
Hate speech, defamation, disclosure of personal information ("doxing"), disinformation or smear campaigns, cyber-assault, monitoring and surveillance, threats, denial of gender-based violence or incitement to violence.
Attacks on servers or accounts, digital censorship, identity theft and the use of malware or monitoring and surveillance programs.
These situations can develope in sexual or romantic relationships, with a partner or ex-partner, in the family or community environment, in work or educational settings, in digital spaces and in any other context specified in the legislation.
